The first step is knowing what your needs are. You can start by requesting a quote through our online form. Or, you setup a meeting with someone from our sales team. Just call 814-262-7400 and press 2 for the sales department.
Would you explain the whole web development process to me?
Assess needs and goals.
This is done when you fill out the website estimate form.Make the estimate:
We will determine the timeframe and resources needed and create a price estimate for the project.Present the proposal:
We will give you a proposal letter that outlines the components and expectations of the web project - number of pages, who will provide the content, languages that will be used, where the site will be hosted, what the domain name will be, what applications will be included - and other aspects. We will tweak the proposal if the expectations of either party does not match what is written in the proposal. Once we all come to an agreement, each party will sign the proposal. The contract is then sealed.Start the proofing process:
We will provide three complientary designs for you during the proofing process. The layout and style of the proofs will be dependent on your requests and input. We will all work together during this portion of the project. If you do not have any input to give, we will use our best judgement. Your input will lessen the chances of going over the 2-round revision limit.Approve a design:
We will give you a proof approval form to sign when you have chosen a design you are happy with. Upon signing this form you will agree that any structural changes you ask for thereafter will come at a charge.Develop the website:
This is when you can sit back and let us work our magic. Still, open communication lines are vital during this part of the project. Sometimes unexpected snags and questions come up in this stage, so your availability will be important.Test the website:
The testing period can take as little as a few hours to as long as several weeks. It depends on the features and functions of your site and whether or not sensitive information will be shared through it.Sign-off the completed site:
After testing is finished and you are fully happy with the result, we will need to get your approval to go live, either through e-mail or by signing a form. Once we have your approval, we will launch the website.Optimize for search engines:
There are many effective methods for improving your search engine placement.
Will you help me come up with a design for my website?
Yes. Together we will create three complimentary website designs through what is called the "proofing process." When you choose which of the three you like best, we will develop the site based on your choice. If you want to continue the process after three designs, we will charge a fee at our web designer's hourly rate.
I already have a website, but I want to switch my host. Can I host my current site with Pitt Bull?
Yes. For an affordable monthly fee, we can host your website on our server. Thereafter you may contact us for any changes and adjustments to the website.
How long will it be until my website goes live?
It really depends on the package you choose and the complexity of your website. Our most basic website will take no longer than 30 days to complete. The timeframe for anything more than a basic site will be completely dependent on the particular components of the project.
You recently launched a website for me, but is not showing up in search engines. What's up with that?
A brand new website will not show up in search engines for the first few weeks after launch. Search engines need some time to use what are called "spiders" to "crawl" through your website in order to give you placement in search engine results. We implement the most effective measures of Search Engine Optimization so that, in time, your website will show up near the top of a search list.
Is there anything I can do to get my website better placement in search engine results?
First, keep updating your website. The more frequently you update your website, the higher your placement will be. Having a blog on your site can help you with this, since blogs are constantly being updated and adding content. Second, websites that get more traffic have better placement in search results, so try to drive as many people to your website as you can. Pitt Bull can help with this using our online marketing services.
Why is there "Spanish" on my website?
That is a language web developers use called "Lorem Ipsum". It's a dummy language that is used as a temporary placeholder that indicates where actual content will eventually be placed. Don't worry, it will go away before launch.
What can I do to help with the development of my website?
So glad you asked! The more help we get from you, the easier it will be for us to complete your website, and the less time it will take to go live. Which we are sure would make you happy! Here are some things you could do that would really, really help the project move along more quickly and smoothly.
Use email.
Email is most effective method for communicating with us, particularly because it gives us both a written record. Please use it whenever possible.Be clear on what your goals are.
Let us know exactly what you want from your web site. Don't hold back. More details will prevent us from having to go back to add and fix things later.Decide on content.
Decide what content you want to present on your web site. We will be in charge of designing the how and where - the formatting and layout.Send content electronically.
If you send us text and images through e-mail, we can just copy and paste which will save lots of time.Deliver content in an organized and timely manner.
Text should be finalized, proofread and ready for publication. Graphics should be named carefully and sent in an orderly way.Offer clear, helpful feedback to design drafts.
Remember that the process consists of 2-round limit of revisions. If you do not like something, please tell us why and offer your suggestions to make it better.Leave it to us to produce a professional product.
Be flexible and aware that time is limited, and leave the responsibility of producing professional results primarily in our hands.
Will you keep me posted during development of my website?
Of course. We will notify you when major components of the project are completed or when unexpected changes need to be made. However, we do not have our developers keep in constant contact with clients. Deadlines will be difficult to make if they have to be in constant contact with their clients.
How can I my update my website myself instead of asking Pitt Bull to do it for me?
You can update your website yourself if you purchase an administrative panel - a user-friendly interface we create for clients so they can edit their own content. This adds more cost to your project, but saves you money in the future if you plan on changing things frequently, as we do charge by the hour when we make changes to our clients' websites.
Can I change the design and structure of my website?
We do not allow that capability through our administrative panel. However, if you would like to make a structural change to your website, we will do that for you at our hourly rate.
If you have further questions or concerns, you may contact us by e-mail, or call us at (814) 262-7400. Press 4 for Customer Service.
